Dear Friends ,
At last we have landed in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. CK has finished his 3 years assignment in China, Beijing. After witnessing the 3 biggest events in Modern China history, namely the Olympics, the 60th national day, and the world expo.
We have to leave the 'giant' and head for the city ranked by EIU as the last second livable city in the world. With huge curiosity, I started to google about Bangladesh as soon as i was told that we are asked to consider the posting. First thing I wanted to know whether SIA or CX flies there. I was so happy to find out SIA and CX both have daily flights, which means i can get out any day if i want to! Not bad, knowing that i have a choice.
In Sept ,We came to Dhaka for a look-see trip, which confirmed my visualisation of Dhaka --hardship. However, we decided to accept the posting. Many good friends have adviced us not to go for very valid reasons- hygiene, arsenics water, diseases, virus, safety, discontinuos power supply, etc etc .But i look at it as we are blessed to have a chance to live in a place we would never volunteer to, and the experience will definitly add more interesting colours to our expat live since 1989 and before CK retires.
